What’s the difference between the lump-sum and monthly plans?
The lump-sum plan is a one-time website build for $2,800, with hosting billed separately at $20 per month. The monthly plan is $129 per month and is designed for businesses that want an ongoing managed website service from SiteRook.
Is there a minimum term for the $129 monthly plan?
Yes. The monthly website plan has a 12-month minimum commitment. After that, it continues month-to-month until cancelled. If you cancel it, you do not keep the website (otherwise everyone would just do that, and we would be out of business!).
What happens if I cancel the monthly plan before 12 months?
If you cancel during the initial 12-month commitment, the remaining balance of the minimum term becomes due.
What happens if I cancel the monthly plan after 12 months?
After the first 12 months, your plan continues month-to-month until cancelled. If you cancel after that point, the plan simply ends at the end of the current billing period.
What happens if I cancel after the 12 month minimum and want to come back?
You just have to sign a new 12 month contract.
Do I keep my site if I cancel the subscription?
No, otherwise everyone would do that and we go out of business! But you keep your domain and assets.
Is there a buyout option for the monthly plan?
No. SiteRook does not currently offer a buyout option for the $129 monthly plan.
What happens if my payment is late?
There is a 7-day grace period for overdue invoices. After that, a $25 late fee may be applied.
How do payments work?
SiteRook uses Stripe for payments. Depending on the project, payments may be collected by invoice, payment link, or subscription billing.
Are there refunds?
Before development begins, if we are unable to produce a design direction you are satisfied with and you choose not to proceed, we will refund the amount paid to start the project. Once you approve the design direction and development begins, all payments made are non-refundable, except at our discretion.
What is included in the $2,800 lump-sum website plan?
The lump-sum plan includes design and development of your website. Hosting is $20 per month. Pages after the first 5 are charged at $100 each, and a blog can be added for a one-time $200 fee. If you want ongoing edits and support on a lump-sum site, that is available as an optional $50 per month add-on.
What is included in the $129 monthly plan?
The monthly plan includes design and development, hosting, up to 5 pages, unlimited website edits, ongoing website support, and lifetime updates. Additional pages after the first 5 are $100 each, and a blog can be added for a one-time $200 fee.
If I am done with 12 months on subscriptions, do I continue paying that after?
Yes. After the initial 12-month minimum, the subscription continues month-to-month until cancelled. As noted in another question, it takes roughly 2–3 years, including hosting fees, to make what we would have made on a lump-sum site. We have this rule because subscriptions really only work out financially if a client stays for 5+ years to be beneficial enough to wait that long for payment. It is not feasible to wait 2 years or so for full payment on every site and then have to replace that monthly subscription. In many cases, it would have been more beneficial to simply be paid in full from the start. We also rely on recurring monthly income to keep revenue more consistent and reliable, so we do not have to constantly sell just to cover the bills. That gives us more time to work on client websites and spend time on support calls and emails. In short, this model allows us to be more hands-on with clients and provide better service. If clients could simply buy out or end subscriptions freely while keeping the website, the model would begin to break down, and eventually so would the level of service.
Is the $100 fee per extra page monthly or one-time?
It is a one-time fee for each additional page after the first 5. It is not a recurring monthly charge.
Is SEO included?
SiteRook includes on-page SEO foundations as part of the website build, such as clean page structure, titles, meta descriptions, sitemap setup, mobile-friendly layouts, and performance-focused development. We do not present this as a separate ongoing SEO campaign unless stated otherwise.
Can you guarantee a number-one ranking on Google?
No. No legitimate web designer or SEO provider can guarantee a number-one ranking. What SiteRook can do is build your website on a technically sound foundation and implement on-page SEO best practices.
How long does a website usually take?
A standard small-business website typically takes around 2–4 weeks, depending on the project scope and how quickly content, images, and feedback are provided.
What platforms do you build websites on?
For standard business websites, SiteRook generally promotes custom-coded websites rather than WordPress. For e-commerce, we can work with Shopify, and WooCommerce can also be used on demand when it is the right fit.
Why custom code over WordPress? What are the advantages?
Security, load times, maintainability, lower costs, easier to customize, less bloat because we don’t need plugins for everything, we never need to update anything like you need to constantly update your Wordpress version otherwise you get hacked and your site redirects to a Chinese gambling site, and we're more responsive. To go into more detail about security, our custom coded sites have no databases or anything so there's nothing to hack. Our sites are more secure without needing constant updates to be on top of or constant attacks from online hackers trying to barge in. Theres nowhere for them to barge into on our sites no matter how hard they try.
Do I own my domain?
Yes. You always own your domain. If SiteRook helps register or manage it for you, we can transfer it to your control whenever needed. We do not take hostages.
